Group Classes

Group tango classes are divided into levels: beginners (1/2), intermediate (3/4), and advanced (5/7) All of the Group classes are 90 minutes and given by a pair of experienced DNI teachers. Very often one or more of the Junior teachers will be in the class to assist and give extra attention to the student. It is not necessary to come with a partner as we encourage the rotation of partners throughout the class-- but with respect of course for couples that came together.


Classes are structured into 3 parts:
  • Warm-up - the student is led in some stretching exercises aimed to get the body ready to dance as well as increase their corporal knowledge and introduce exercises that will be called upon later in the class.
  • Explanation - After the teachers introduce and explain the theme or sequence to be worked upon in the class, the student tries in couples while the teachers pass by to offer individual instruction. The student can expect corrections to come in three forms:
  1. Verbal explanation using the concepts and vocabulary from TTC.
  2. Visual demonstration, as the teacher shows in his or her body the ideal movement.
  3. Tactile demonstration where the teacher tries to reproduce the ideal movement/sensation in the body of the student by leading them.

All levels of classes have a structural element utilizing the rhythmic part of the music and in advanced levels we begin to work more profoundly with the music.

  • Demonstration – All classes conclude with a demonstration by the teachers focusing on the structural elements learned as well as some of the possibilities for further study.
One of the things that makes DNI special, and something we pride ourselves on, is after the group classes there is always an opportunity to continue practicing the sequence to music and the chance to ask further questions or resolve any doubts about the class with the teachers or any other member of the DNI family.
Group classes cost AR$20 per class. Alternatively, you can purchase a card of 10 classes for AR $150. The cards are valid for all tango, yoga, contemporary dance, and folklore classes and have no expiration date.

Exceptions :

  • Beginner classes cost AR$18 per class.
  • Tecnica with Dana and Tango 7 with Pablo and Dana cost AR$20 if you have a group card and AR$25 without a group card.
