For those looking to enhance and accelerate their study of tango and the movement of the body in dance, DNI offers personalized lessons plans consisting of a combination of:
  • Private Tango Classes- explanation and analysis of a specific technical element through didactic exercises.
Emphasis on:
  • General Concepts
  • Highlighting Points for Improvement

Methodology
Prior to the class, a specific technical element is selected as the area of study. The class begins with a detailed explanation of the using the concepts and vocabulary of TTC. For example, if the area of study is circular boleos, the teacher will explain the theoretical aspects of boleos; focusing on the general principles. Didactic exercises are then introduced to focus on the areas for improvement. The class concludes with a review of the material covered and a summation of the technical points to be worked on in the Private Practices. In addition the teacher makes note of the students particular physical needs to be worked upon in the Private Practices/Yoga-Training.

  • Private Tango Practices – incorporation of recently learned concepts through application and repetition.
Methodology These practices are used to review the aspects covered in the Private Classes. Through the use of repetition and application the student integrates the new concepts into their muscle memory. The practices provide an opportunity for the student to clarify the points covered in the Classes.

  • Physical Training – incorporating new concepts of movement into the body requires working knowledge of ones body. To acquire this knowledge, DNI offers two options for individual work-- where one has no partner and can concentrate on ones own body and movements:

  1. Yoga – in yoga one can focus on aligning the body, increasing mobility, flexibility, and strength; discovering the influence of breathing patterns, opposite directional energies, and their relation to stability/equilibrium.

  2. Contemporary Dance – this individual dance allows one to focus on their own movements and isolate specific areas for improvement. Learning how to coordinate the body.

  3. Ballet/Classical Dance - for the those tango students looking to improve their balance, turning ability, internal rotation and muscle control, ballet provides a very interesting area of study.
